At our electric toothbrush reviews blog, we’re often asked which toothbrush we think is the absolute best of all. That’s a tough question, as there is not one single brush on the market that does everything. That said, we think two of the best are the Sonicare HX6972 and the oral b triumph 5000. These are two very advanced toothbrushes, and it’s very difficult to pick a winner. Today, we’re going to compare and contrast these two fantastic electric toothbrushes, so that you can see the differences and make an informed decision about which one will better suit your needs. So without any further ado, let’s take a look.
Both the HX6972 and the Triumph 5000 are sonic toothbrushes. What this means from your point of view, is that despite being battery operated, they are both extremely fast! A sonic toothbrush can really help shift stubborn stains such as coffee and red wine. Customers report that both of these brushes are fantastically capable of removing stains, but which of them is the fastest? That award has to go the Triumph 5000 from Oral B, which clocks in at 40,000 brush stokes per minute compared with the HX6972′s mere 31,000. In addition, the Triumph brush also rotates 8,800 times per minute. Both brushes are excellent at whitening, but the Triumph 5000 undoubtedly has the edge in this area.
What about the extra features? These brushes offer different advanced features. The HX6972 offers a UV Sanitizer unit. We’re big fans of this particular piece of technology, which actually kills 99.9% of bacteria on your brush in-between uses. Since the whole point of brushing is to get rid of harmful plaque bacteria, this is a really great feature and one that we’re thoroughly impressed with. The Triumph 5000 offers a wireless SmartGuide display. This display actually communicates wireless with the toothbrush handset, and monitors how you are cleaning your teeth. It will will then visually advise you on how to improve your brushing technique. For example, if you’re pressing too hard the wireless SmartGuide will advise you to be more gentle, and it will even tell you when you need to focus on brushing a different part of the mouth! All of the feedback that the SmartGuide gives you is inspired by dentists, so this feature is actually going to get you in the kind of brushing habits a dentist would recommend. We think both of these features are top-notch, so in terms of extra features, we’re calling it tie.
So there you have it. Both the Oral B Triumph 5000 are the Sonicare HX6972 are excellent toothbrushes, and well worth the money. Which you prefer will largely be based on which feature you’d most like to get hold of! If you’d like to improve your brushing technique, and make sure you’re giving your teeth the best possible clean, you might want to go for the Triumph 5000 with it’s wireless SmartGuide. On the other hand, if you’re confident that you already follow a dentist-recommended brushing routine, you should opt for the HX6972 and take advantage of it’s UV Sanitizer feature; saying goodbye to plaque bacteria. It’s your choice!
